Telefon z Wiednia!/ Call from Vienna!

Krzyczę do brata: Mikołaj! Kto dzwoni!? Mikołaj nie wie co powiedzieć, co robić. Wyłączam sprzęt, nasłuchuję. Wiedeń! Wiedeń dzwoni!!!!! Przecież nie ma miejsca już na strach! Jest wielka radość! Doczekałam się! Zadzwonili! Wiedziałam, że zadzwonią! Jedziemy! Zaraz po mnie przylecą na lotnisko! Lecę do Wiednia! Po nowe płuca! Będę zdrowa!

Co zrobić, żeby nie zwariować? Mama krzyczy za bratem, żeby mnie pilnował. Miałam wcześniej to wymyślone. Trudno. Ubieram się. Przecież to takie ciężkie zadanie! Dopiero się kąpałam a teraz się śpieszę z ubieraniem. Emocje we mnie buzują. Mam siłę przenieść góry, żeby dolecieć do Wiednia.

3 godziny?

O Matko! Mamy 2,5 godziny! Karetka jest. Mama dopakowuje. Biega po całym domu. Popija kawę. Ubiera się. Wisi na telefonie. Leci do pokoju pakować. I to bezpiecznie!” Mają łzy w oczach i mnie całują. A ja krzyczę: Ludzie! Ściskam brata i babcie. Rany! Spokojnie! I’m Kristin! We were take care of you!” Jest jeszcze asystent i dwóch pilotów. MOI PILOCI!

Spadają emocje i wychodzi zmęczenie. Ona mówi do mnie „To największa przygoda Twojego życia – będzie dobrze”. Mija godzina i 1200 km pokonane. I nagle opadamy z chmur.

Monday, 29 September 2008. There is an evening. I about 21.00 I going into mum's room in order to overexert myself enough in order to fall asleep with deep sleep. Mum also tired out with entire day. We are preparing to sleep. I am in pyjamas in the bed. I put the BiPAP mask on (click) and suddenly I hear that the mum is talking on the phone.? There is 22.00 I hear that this conversation is taking long (i.e. longer than 2 minutes!). I am screaming to the brother: Mikołaj! Who is ringing!? Mikołaj doesn't know what to say, what to do. I' m turn off the equipment, I am listening closely. Vienna! Vienna is ringing!!!!! After all there isn't taking place already to fear! There is great joy! I waited until! They called! I knew that they would call! We are going!  They will arrive to the airport for me! I am flying to Vienna! Up to new lungs! I will be healthy!
What to do in order not to go mad? Mum is yelling to my brother to look after me. I had it earlier invented. I went to take a shower!: -) in order to wake up, to refresh, to work next moves out. I think what to pack. Dictionary! I cannot find the dictionary! With difficulty. I am getting dressed. After all it is such a hard task! Only I took a bath and now I am in a hurry with dressing. Emotions in me are roaring. I am supposed to move power mountains in order to run up to Vienna.
Probably my attempt to master the situation was nothing compared with what my mum had had to make. Mum uż earlier prepared the grandmother which lives with us, in the case of the phone. The mum is ringing in order to order the ambulance. We must reach to the airport to Rębiechowa up to the 1.00 hour that is how many? 3 hours? Frenzy! We are ordering the ambulance. We have 3 hours so that pack one's things and reach to the airport. Even though were given prior notice about such a situation, sheet of paper with such an order for the transport for me disappeared. At least 3 phones to the emergency service and we are worry about don't be late with everything.

Vienna is getting in touch with my Docs and say that aeroplane will be half an hour more quickly! OMG! We have 2.5 hour! The ambulance is ready. Mum is packing. She's running all over the house. She's sipping the coffee and getting dressed. She's on the phone for hours. After all a moment ago she was in łożku in pyjamas. Doctor Sapiejka  from Gdańsk is ringing, that she with Doctor Trawińska will arrive to the airport: ” There can't be any trouble! They must take me with all safely! ” I am excited and happy as never before! I am getting dressed. An ambulance is driving up. I managed to write my neighbour, that I was flying to Vienna. Becia which helped me to rise money for the operation, is falling out in dressing gowns to the street about 24.00 with her mum in order to say goodbye to me before this expedition! Teheir eyes are full of tear and their kissing me. I am screaming: People! I am going for the new life, not to die! Be pleased!  I don't think that abulansman could imagine how looks like person which is flying to the lungs transplant. I couldn't walk it was so hard for me, all the stupid things like cylinders of oxygen (one for now, 2 for later) and a lot of bundles..How I looked than?
I am hugging the brother and grandmothers. Still race against time. The mummy is saying that from a few days we observed the weather which is on the airport so that the fog doesn't disturb us in the mouth. The ambulance of course is jolting itself entire – as it on our roads and our super ambulances for the transport of seriously ill people. Cylinders for us are falling down. I m  trying to cheer  Mum up. It is ridiculously! Mum is trying to keep cylinders which thay are slating for us off the bed. By accident she is rising bed up. We have the hilarity. After the not quite hour we are on the airport.
Exactly! We had about hour so that settle of everything and are on an airfield! On the airport Docs are waiting and we can run into the apron area. We are sitting in the ambulance and waiting for the arrival of people from Vienna! Docs are squeezing for me into the ambulance. They want to see me, they want to feel me and to know, that everything is ok. They are starting stories from the jitters some about ball gowns. Calm down! I am travelling to Vienna for the transplant! I will live! My Aeroplane is arriving from Vienna! In the end I am getting out out of this ambulance and I am slowly going to the aeroplane. Which is so small!!! Five seating.  Doc is being greeted with me – Hi!I m Kristin! In were take care of you! ” there are still an assistant and two pilots. MY PILOTS! Docs are looking into the aeroplane - they must be sure than I flying in good conditions. Doctor Trawińska is talking to pilots: Aren't you too young? Whether you don't have too low experience in order to fly with such a patient?! They calmed her.We are starting. End of these great goodbyes.
The flight is being shown to be for me very heavy. Emotions are falling and tiring out is working. I cannot breathe. Changes of pressures are terrible. I cannot doze off. Kristin is looking at me, and I loooking to her. I thinking, whether she isn't upset with how I am breathing. She is talking to me „ It is the greatest adventure of your life – it will be ok”. Her peace and taking control makes that I am feeling safe. At least from the other side, whether it is possible to feel safe in such a moment? I am on the fine deadline … I must still withstand a little. When I had a feeling that I am delirious in reality, mum said to me: Look, pilots are waving hand to you . Then she is told me, that they through entire are turned the road away oneself to the back in order to check what is happening with me. I am asking: How long we will still? Last few minutes of flying was  the most difficult for me. They said that we are already in Vienna. An hour and 1200 km are passing defeated. I feel us descending, how pressures are changing. And suddenly we are falling from clouds. I saw very beautiful … the most beautiful view in my life … Vienna with night. Vienna which is sleeping, but waiting for me and  flickering with every light to me. When I am writing about it, for me tears are running down … I reached.

  1. This post is describing when you got the phone call that they had new lungs for you? I never experienced that scared, excited, crazy feeling because I was on the ventilator when lungs came for me. I will read the rest of this post when you translate it :)
